Dental marketing ideas, timed to the month patients search
Dental office marketing ideas built on US patient search data pulled 3 November 2026. When patients look for a dentist, ask about their benefits, and book whitening.

On this page
- US searches for `dental insurance annual maximum` reached 590 in November 2025 and 480 in December, against 170 to 260 in every month of 2026 so far.
- `teeth whitening` drew 201,000 US searches in January, March and April 2026, and 110,000 in June and September.
- `kids dentist` peaked at 74,000 US searches in January 2026. It was 33,100 in November 2025.
- `mouth guard for sports` went from 4,400 US searches in June 2026 to 14,800 in August.
Many dental marketing ideas work best in one particular month, because patients think about their teeth on a calendar. They ask about unused benefits in November and look for whitening in January. We pulled US search data on 3 November 2026 to show when each of those happens.
If you own or run a dental practice and want to bring in more patients, this is a calendar you can work from. The ideas are for practices. If you are looking for a job in dental marketing, this post won't help you find one.
When do patients search for a dentist?
All year, with clear peaks. These are US monthly searches from Google Ads data, October 2025 to September 2026. Google rounds volumes into bands, so read the direction of each row.
| What patients search | Low month | High month | When it peaks |
|---|---|---|---|
dentist near me | 1,830,000 | 2,240,000 | January, and again in August and September |
teeth whitening | 110,000 | 201,000 | January, and again in March and April |
invisalign | 301,000 | 450,000 | January |
veneers | 165,000 | 246,000 | January and March |
kids dentist | 33,100 | 74,000 | January |
mouth guard for sports | 4,400 | 14,800 | August |
dental insurance annual maximum | 170 | 590 | November |
January is the high month on five of the seven rows, and the cosmetic searches climb with it. The insurance row runs the other way, peaking in the last two months of the year.
So the work of marketing a practice happens a few weeks ahead of each peak. Video you publish in November has time to reach people in your area before they search in January, and a patient who has already seen you explain a treatment has a name in mind when they do.
What should a dental practice market in November and December?
Market the benefits patients have left. US searches for dental insurance annual maximum were 590 in November 2025
and 480 in December, then sat between 170 and 260 in every month of 2026 so far.
use it or lose it dental insurance was 70 in October and November 2025 and 10 to 30 in the months
after.
Those patients are asking whether they have money left on their plan, and for anyone whose plan year ends in December, the answer matters before the 31st. Four ways to use that:
- Send a recall email to patients with treatment planned but not booked, in the first week of November
- Post a short video of the dentist explaining what an annual maximum is and when it resets
- Ask the front desk to mention remaining benefits on every call in November
- Keep a few December slots open for patients who reply
The video does the most work of the four, because it reaches patients who are not on your list yet. Somebody who learned from you what their plan covers has a reason to book with you.
What dental marketing ideas work in January?
Market cosmetic treatment and new-patient visits. January was the high month for invisalign at 450,000
US searches and tied for the high on teeth whitening at 201,000. kids dentist peaked the same
month at 74,000, more than double its November figure of 33,100.
Publish the January material in November and December, so it is already out there when the searches climb:
- What whitening in the chair does that a strip from the pharmacy can't
- How long aligners take, and what moves the price
- What a child's first visit looks like, from the moment they walk in
- What happens at a new-patient exam, for an adult who hasn't been in years
That last one reaches the biggest group. It speaks to the person who has avoided the dentist and is
nervous about going back, and dentist near me was at its yearly high in January.
The question patients type most about all of these is the price. We cover how a dentist can answer it without quoting a fee in social media marketing for dentists.
What should a practice promote before school starts?
Promote children's checkups and sports mouth guards. mouth guard for sports drew 4,400 US searches in June
2026 and 14,800 in August, when fall sports practice begins. dentist near me rose to its high band
in August and September as well.
Two ideas for July:
- A video from the dentist on why a custom mouth guard protects better than a store-bought one
- A back-to-school checkup reminder to every family on your list
Keep the mouth guard video up all year. US searches for mouth guard for sports were 9,900 or
higher in six of the twelve months we pulled.
Which dental marketing ideas cost nothing to start?
The ones that catch a patient already looking for you. They cost staff time and no ad spend, so set them up before anything you pay for.
| Idea | When it reaches the patient | What it costs |
|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile, complete and current | They are searching for a dentist now | Staff time |
| A review request after every visit | They are comparing practices | Staff time |
| Recall and benefits emails | They are already your patient | Your email tool |
| Referral thank-you to existing patients | A friend asks who they see | The cost of the thank-you |
| Google Ads on local terms | They are searching for a dentist now | $14.71 a click for dentist near me on 3 November 2026 |
| Founder-led video, done for you | Before they need a dentist | From $200 a month |
Everything in the table sends people to look you up, which is why the profile and the reviews come first. Paid search can fill a gap in next week's book. The video keeps reaching your area in the months the practice is too busy to think about marketing.
For what dental marketing costs when an agency runs it, and what a dental marketer does all month, see marketing for dentists.
How does a dental practice keep a marketing calendar going all year?
By taking the filming off the dentist. A calendar like this needs a video ready a few weeks ahead of each season, and filming lands at the end of a full day of patients. That is why so many practices that start posting stop.
We do it for you. You record with us once, for about an hour. We build a model of your face and voice from that session and produce the videos from it, so you never film again. You read each month's scripts, and nothing goes out without your written sign-off.
Prices are on the pricing page and the process is on how it works. What this looks like for a practice is on marketing for dental practices.
