Real estate lead generation: sellers choose an agent before they call
Why listing content does not win listings, what real estate lead generation costs, and how an agent stays visible without filming every week. Prices published.

On this page
- `real estate lead generation` runs about 3,600 US searches a month at $54 a click, and it is one of the steadiest search patterns in any vertical we track.
- Listing content sells the property and leaves the agent invisible. The seller is choosing a person, not a kitchen.
- A homeowner circles the decision for months before contacting anyone. That window is the whole opportunity.
- Paid leads reset every month. Recognition compounds.
A homeowner thinking about selling spends months circling the decision before they contact anybody. They read, they watch, they check what their place might be worth, and they say nothing to anyone.
The agent they eventually call is the one who was present during those months. Everything that happens after the call is negotiation. The choice was made earlier.
Why do sellers pick an agent they have never met?
Because they have met you, in the way that counts now. Watching somebody explain how pricing works, or what to fix before listing, is a version of meeting them. By the time they dial, they are not interviewing candidates. They are confirming a decision.
Which reframes the whole job. The point of an agent's content is not to be found by somebody searching for an agent. It is to be present for somebody who has not started searching yet, because that is when the choice actually gets made.
Why does listing content not win listings?
Because it is about the property, and the property is not what is being chosen.
A carousel of a kitchen sells the house. It says nothing about who you are to work with, and the seller is deciding who handles the largest transaction of their life. Listing posts also expire the day the house sells, so the work resets with every listing.
There is a second problem. Listing content puts the house on screen and leaves you off it, which means the more of it you post, the less recognisable you become.
What does real estate lead generation cost?
| Route | Typical monthly cost | What happens when you stop |
|---|---|---|
| Paid lead platforms | $200 – $1,500 plus referral fees | Leads stop that month |
| Google Ads | $54 a click on the head term | Leads stop that day |
| Social ads | $500 – $3,000 | Leads stop that day |
| Founder-led video, done for you | from $200 | The published videos keep working |
Checked in August 2026, real estate lead generation runs about 3,600 US searches a month at
roughly $54 a click, and realtor marketing about 2,400. The steadiness of those series is the
interesting part: month to month they barely move, which tells you the demand is structural rather
than seasonal.
The line that matters is the right-hand column. Paid channels are rented, and the rent goes up. Recognition is the only part of this that accrues.
What should the videos be about?
What people ask before they are ready to commit to anyone:
- What is my house actually worth right now, and what moves that number
- Should I fix the bathroom before listing, or price for it
- How long are things taking around here at the moment
- What do your fees cover, and what do they not
- What happens between accepting an offer and closing
Answer those in public and you are having the pre-listing conversation with everybody in your area at once, months before any of them call.
Which platform those answers belong on, and how often to post them, is covered in real estate social media marketing.
How does an agent do this while showing properties all week?
The obstacle is time, not willingness. Weekly filming does not survive a busy market.
You record with us once, for about an hour, from an office or a car between viewings. We build a model of your face and voice from that session, and every video after it comes from that recording. You approve each month's scripts, which takes a few minutes and can be done on a phone. Nothing is published without your written sign-off.
The detail for this vertical is on marketing for real estate agents, prices are on the pricing page, and the process is on how it works.
