Med spa advertising: the ad buys the first visit
What a click costs on the searches your clients make, why reaching a clinic owner costs nearly twelve times more than reaching a client, and what happens to the diary when the spend pauses. Built on US click prices pulled the day this was written.

On this page
- A click on `med spa near me` cost $5.27 in the US on 8 September 2026. A click on `med spa advertising` cost $62.05 the same day. It costs nearly twelve times more to reach a clinic owner than to reach the client that clinic wants.
- Google scores advertiser competition on `med spa advertising` at 0.15 out of 1, the emptiest auction in the set we pulled, and it carries the highest price in it. That is what happens when the thing being bought is a retainer and not an appointment.
- US searches for `laser hair removal near me` and `semaglutide near me` are both down about 45% against the same month a year earlier, while `med spa near me` held flat at about 90,500 a month. Fewer people are naming a treatment before they choose a clinic.
- An advert reaches somebody once and charges you again for the next one. A client who already knows your face arrives with no auction in front of them.
A click on med spa near me cost $5.27 in the US on 8 September 2026. A click on
med spa advertising cost $62.05 the same day.
One of those reaches somebody looking for a clinic. The other one reaches you. Whoever is buying the second click has worked out that a clinic on a monthly retainer is worth a great many appointments, and they will pay nearly twelve times more to find you than you pay to find a client.
Why does it cost more to reach a med spa owner than a med spa client?
Because the auction prices what is being bought, and a contract is worth more than a booking.
These are US cost-per-click figures pulled on 8 September 2026, with how many people search each term in a month and how crowded Google says the bidding is on a scale of nought to one.
| What somebody searches | US searches per month | Cost per click | Advertiser competition |
|---|---|---|---|
med spa marketing | 390 | $77.22 | 0.29 |
med spa advertising | 320 | $62.05 | 0.15 |
med spa marketing agency | 320 | $37.46 | 0.22 |
semaglutide near me | 9,900 | $31.04 | 0.35 |
laser hair removal near me | 110,000 | $15.81 | 0.74 |
botox specials near me | 4,400 | $11.39 | 0.61 |
botox cost | 12,100 | $8.38 | 0.25 |
coolsculpting near me | 22,200 | $8.32 | 0.91 |
lip filler near me | 74,000 | $7.53 | 0.68 |
medical spa near me | 49,500 | $5.42 | 0.44 |
med spa near me | 110,000 | $5.27 | 0.55 |
Read it as two blocks. The top three rows are marketing companies bidding for clinic owners. Every row under them is clinics bidding for clients.
coolsculpting near me has the most crowded auction on that board at 0.91, and a click still costs
$8.32. med spa advertising has the emptiest at 0.15 and a click costs $62.05. Almost nobody is
bidding and the price is enormous, which is the shape an auction takes when the winner gets to bill
somebody every month for a year.
The number worth taking away is the one at the bottom. About 110,000 people a month in the US
search med spa near me, and reaching one of them costs $5.27. Getting in front of people in your
own area who are looking for a clinic is one of the cheaper things a med spa can buy. The click is
not where the money goes. The fee for managing the account is, and so is having to buy that same
click again every month for as long as you want the enquiries.
Are med spa clients searching less than they used to?
For named treatments, yes, and the fall is steep. For the clinic itself, no.
Same terms, same pull on 8 September 2026, comparing what people searched in August 2025 against July 2026, which is the most recent full month.
| What somebody searches | August 2025 | July 2026 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
laser hair removal near me | 135,000 | 74,000 | down 45% |
semaglutide near me | 12,100 | 6,600 | down 45% |
botox cost | 12,100 | 8,100 | down 33% |
lip filler near me | 74,000 | 60,500 | down 18% |
coolsculpting near me | 22,200 | 18,100 | down 18% |
med spa near me | 90,500 | 90,500 | no change |
The last row is the one to sit with. Just as many people are looking for a med spa as were looking a year ago. Fewer of them arrive having already picked out the treatment.
That changes what an advert has to do. An advert against coolsculpting near me speaks to somebody
who has named what they want and is choosing who supplies it. Falling volume there means a smaller
pool of those people, and a competition score of 0.91 says the clinics bidding for them have not
thinned out at the same rate. With fewer searches going in and the same number of bidders chasing
them, the price of that auction moves in one direction.
The person typing med spa near me has named nothing. They are looking for a place, which in
aesthetics means a person, and
that decision is not made inside the advert.
What is the best way to advertise a medical spa?
Two things running at once, doing jobs that do not substitute for each other.
| Route | Who it reaches | What it costs | What happens when it stops |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Ads on local treatment terms | Somebody booking something this month | $5 to $32 a click at the US rates above, plus management | Enquiries stop that day |
| Paid social on a treatment offer | Somebody scrolling who was not looking for you | Set by your market and your creative | Enquiries stop that day |
| Local SEO and a Google Business profile | Somebody comparing the clinics near them | Your time, or a retainer | Holds, and fades slowly |
| Being recognised before anybody searches | Somebody months away from booking anything | From $200 a month with us | Holds |
The first two rows buy attention by the unit and stop when the card stops. That is not a criticism of them. It is what they are for, and a clinic with a gap in next week's diary should use them.
What they cannot do is compound. Every month you pay for the same click again, against the same clinics, in an auction that is getting tighter as the treatment searches fall. The fourth row is the only one where this month's work is still working for you next March.
Why do discount offers fill the diary and lose money?
Because the offer decides who answers it, and a price decides for a price.
There are 4,400 searches a month in the US for botox specials near me, and a click on one costs
$11.39. A click on med spa near me costs $5.27. The person hunting a deal is more than twice as
expensive to reach as the person looking for a clinic, and they are the client least likely to be
there in a year, because somebody down the road will run a cheaper unit price next quarter and the
same search will find them.
Aesthetics does not make its money on a first appointment. It makes it on the fifth and the twentieth, on the client who comes back for the same practitioner and adds a treatment to the visit. An advert that wins a first visit from somebody who was shopping on price has bought you the least valuable version of a client at a premium.
None of that is an argument against running offers. It is an argument for knowing which line of your marketing is supposed to bring the first visit and which line is supposed to bring the twentieth, because they are not the same line and they do not use the same copy.
What should a med spa put in front of people who are not ready to book?
The consultation, before there is a consultation.
Every practitioner answers the same set of questions several times a week, and each one is something a person types into a search bar at eleven at night:
- What a treatment feels like on the day, and how long the whole appointment takes
- How long it lasts before it needs doing again, and what happens if it is left
- Why one clinic quotes per unit and the next quotes per area
- Who a treatment is not right for, and what you say when somebody asks for it anyway
- What recovery really looks like on day one and day four
Answering those in your own voice, on camera, is the closest thing there is to having the consultation early. Somebody who has watched you talk somebody out of a treatment has learned more about you than a before-and-after grid can carry, and they arrive at the clinic with the decision mostly made.
It also happens to be ground nobody is holding. Search any of those questions and you find treatment pages written to rank and cost-estimate sites that have never treated anybody. The person who can answer them properly is the one holding the needle.
What does med spa advertising cost to keep running?
The useful version of that question is not what one click costs. It is what the same clicks cost in the twelfth month, when you have bought every one of them twelve times over.
Paid search bills you for attention by the unit, and the unit price is set by whoever else is bidding that day. That is a fine way to fill a quiet week and a difficult way to build a clinic, because nothing you bought last year is still working. Recognition is the other way round. It is slower to start and it does not reset when you pause.
The obstacle has never been that clinic owners disagree with this. It is that filming yourself every week around a full treatment diary is not a realistic thing to ask of yourself, which is why most owners who start posting have stopped by week three. The fuller comparison of what the alternatives cost in money and in hours is in what social media management costs.
You record with us once, for about an hour. We build a model of your face and voice from that session and produce everything afterwards from it, so you never film again. You approve every script before anything is published, and in aesthetics that rule is stricter than anywhere else we work, because no claim about a treatment goes out unless it came from you in writing.
Prices are on the pricing page and the process is on how it works. What this looks like for a clinic specifically is on marketing for med spas.
